KUALA LUMPUR: Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has urged Bukit Aman to reopen an investigation into the assault of a 28-year-old foreign woman at a club here.
Speaking at a press conference called by Lim today, the victim, Dao Thi Kim Tra, said she was at the club at 4pm on Aug 4 when her friend brought her into a VIP room where two men were present.
“(The main aggressor) asked me if I knew who he was. I said yes, and told him he was the boss of the club. Then, he asked me some other things, but since I wasn’t very good at Chinese, I told him I couldn’t understand.
“Immediately after that, he and the other man started attacking me,” she said.
Dao said she was hit several times in her left eye, head and stomach, and that according to a medical report, she sustained a hemorrhage and haematoma in her left eye.
She also claimed that after the assault, a third man was called into the room and told to hand the “boss” a gun. The main aggressor then pointed the gun directly at her and threatened her.
Dao said the man told her to take a bag containing what she suspected were drugs outside the club, saying that she would then be arrested for drug possession. She was afraid and did not do so.
She was released from the room at around 9pm after her friend entered and begged the men to let her leave. After Dao left, the third man allegedly told her that he was a police officer and suggested that she file a police report.
Dao filed a police report at the Wangsa Maju police station on Aug 6. However, she claimed that only one of the two aggressors was detained and remanded, and that he was released two days later.
She said the police told her they could not obtain CCTV footage because the club’s cameras were broken.
“Brandishing a gun as a threat is a very serious crime. We urge Bukit Aman to reopen the case and detain all the suspects once again,” said Lim.
