
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened slightly higher on Tuesday, supported by buying interest in heavyweight counters, led by Maybank, despite renewed concerns over geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
At 9.14am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched up by 1.83 points to 1,727.72, from Monday’s close of 1,725.89.
The benchmark index opened 1.63 points higher at 1,727.52.
Maybank contributed 13.18 points to the rise in the composite index.
However, market breadth was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 216 to 177, while 351 counters were unchanged, 2,107 untraded, and 16 suspended.
Turnover stood at 257.53 million shares valued at RM135.41 million.
