Bursa edges higher in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened higher on Wednesday on bargain hunting and renewed buying in selected heavyweights, although weaker overnight Wall Street performance kept investors cautious.

At 9.05 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched up by 1.19 points to 1,732.65, from Tuesday’s close of 1,731.46.

The benchmark index opened 0.01 of a point higher at 1,731.47.

On the broader market, gainers outpaced losers 162 to 117, while 314 counters were unchanged, 2,194 untraded and 13 suspended.

Turnover stood at 99.51 million shares valued at RM63.27 million.
